Although curtailed for a couple of years due to the Covid pandemic, the celebrations culminated with a free celebratory concert at St. Michaels Church in the village. A large appreciative audience brought picnics, deckchairs and good spirit to hear the band. Featured in the programme of music the band premiered a specially commissioned work by Andrew Baker to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the band. The evocative piece depicts the falling of the original Emley Moor mast in the snowy conditions of March 1969.
The band were delighted to invite former members of the band to join in a massed band finale.
Here’s to the next 150 years!
