On the weekend of January 13th 2018, we travelled to Skegness for the Butlins Mineworkers Championship. After giving an energetic and powerful performance, we were absolutely ecstatic to walk away with £500 in prize money and the pride and happiness we felt after our performance. We would like to congratulate our various Yorkshire banding colleagues who picked up trophies and prize money too: Dodworth, Stannington, Skelmanthorpe, Markham Main and Strata.
We would like to give a huge thank you to three excellent bandsmen: Andrew Yeomans, Pete Toon and Mike Howley who, not only joined us for rehearsals prior to the contest, but also helped us on the contest stage and helped us put on a brilliant show! We also have to say another huge thank you to our Chairman, Gary Brown, for being an asset to our Percussion team but also for his organisation in ensuring that the whole weekend ran smoothly. This could not have also been possible without the Butlins team for the organisation and management too.
The band are now enjoying a relaxing week off before starting our preparations for the Yorkshire Area Finals in which we are excited to play Napoleon on the Alps by Phillip Harper. We will keep you up to date with our progression on this!
