Emley Band are delighted to be able to welcome several new faces in to the ranks this year.
Having done already done several big events with us Charlotte Richardson has accepted our 2nd man seat, and brings with her a wealth of experience and a great cornet sound. Arthur Cutts has also helped us out before deciding we were the team for him, he joins on BBb Bass. He’s got more ‘experience’ than he’d like us to mention but safe to say, he’s a real asset to our bass section!
Joining us on Solo Horn, is Marie Bedford, Marie has had a long break from banding until she was bitten by the bug again in early 2015. We’ve never known anyone practice as much or work as hard at her playing so we’re delighted to have her as part of our team. It should be also mentioned that we were able to offer Marie a chair due to the selfless nature of Steve Chapple who moved over to Baritone to facilitate Marie joining us #topbander
Lucy Clarke has filled our last remaining cornet spot and has brought yet more quality to our front row team. Lucy is studying at nearby Huddersfield University, and has brought her bubbly nature as well as powerful sound to our front row. Helen Russell has been taking a banding break having held the Solo Trombone seat at Wetherby Silver Band, we are delighted she accepted our offer of a 2nd trombone seat, she’s a great player and top bandswoman.
Finally we are very grateful to have Mark Readman join us for the area contest on Eb Bass, Mark hails from Selby and we are also indebted to his Dad Phil, for driving him up and down. Mark plays for Ebor Brass and is a regular with the Grimethorpe Youth Brass Band studying under Shaun Crowther.
Watch out for us in Bradford as we unveil our new ladies uniform, giving us a more modern look, and hopeful making the ladies look “less like bus drivers”! Thanks to Liz Hartley for organising the ladies side
